I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.

Romans 1:16 New King James Version

Some people believe that the moment they believe in Jesus, all their problems are solved. The truth is that your problems are not resolved at the point of conversion, but rather as you yield yourself to the gospel.

According to the Apostle Paul, the gospel of Christ is God's power for salvation. We must learn to appreciate and accept this incredible truth. The gospel has the power to change your life. It has the power to transform your life from something painful to something beautiful. This is because the gospel reflects God's vision of you, and when you can see yourself as God sees you, you can become the person God desires you to be.

Self-effort results in little long-term change.

Those who rely on their own efforts to please God will fail and become frustrated. Many believers have yet to discover the depths of God’s grace. They never fully appreciate the grace God bestowed upon us, let alone wonder what makes it so incredible! This is most likely why they are unaware of the discrepancy between what they believe and how they act.

The gospel, on the other hand, offers real and lasting changes because God's power is at work in us to produce the desired outcomes of our salvation. Look at Paul. Whatever disqualified Paul for salvation and ministry, God's grace qualified him way more than he could have imagined. This explains Paul's bold statement that he is not ashamed of the gospel. The word ashamed means "disgraced." This means that the gospel will not disgrace you but will instead strengthen your faith in God.

Grace is about making progress rather than perfection (which will only happen when we get to heaven). As a result, don't waste your life blaming your problems for your lack of spiritual growth. Take them to the Lord instead. Believe what His gospel says about your life and circumstances and trust Him to amaze you with how things turned out.
