The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

Romans 8:16 (NKJV)

One of the works of the Holy Spirit is to bear witness with your spirit that you genuinely belong to God as His own beloved. The Greek word for "give witness" is symmartyre, which means “testifying in support of someone”. What a privilege and honour that we have this birthright in Christ—not because of anything we have done but because of His grace and kindness. This truth establishes the ground of your access to God and the riches of His grace.

However, we often act and think like spiritual orphans, failing to recognise that we have a perfect Father in heaven who loves us. This is due to our dullness of hearing the truth of our identity and inheritance in Christ. Without training our spirit to listen to His Spirit, we can develop warped thinking and make unwise decisions.

Train your spirit to listen to His Spirit, and you will stay in step with Him.

The Spirit will empower you to live a life without ever contradicting the Scriptures.

The Spirit and the Scriptures are both of and from Christ. As a result, no one can hear the Scriptures, without the Spirit, and no one can heed the Spirit without the Scriptures. The Scriptures without the Spirit distort grace. The Spirit without the Scriptures distorts the truth. The Scriptures without the Spirit lead to blind obedience. The Spirit without the Scriptures leads to excessive fixation.

The power of the Spirit enables us to live the truth of the Scriptures.

Without this clarity, you may wind up going against the Spirit or the Scriptures. When the Holy Spirit says "Yes!" you will say "No!" and when the Scriptures say "No!" you will respond "Yes!" As a result, the Christian life is reduced to a confusing and often conflicting relationship with God.

As a God's child, constantly rely on Christ to follow His Spirit and Scriptures since it is the best guarantee for your spiritual growth and well-being.
