The truth is that, although of course, we lead normal human lives, the battle we are fighting is on the spiritual level. The very weapons we use are not those of human warfare but powerful in God’s warfare for the destruction of the enemy’s strongholds. Our battle is to bring down every deceptive fantasy and every imposing defence that men erect against the true knowledge of God. We even fight to capture every thought until it acknowledges the authority of Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:3-6 (Philips)
It is critical to remove any negative mindsets and thought patterns that may subtly impede our spiritual walk. The Corinthians are an example of Christians who were misled by false ways of thinking and then acted on those ideas.
Knowledge and obedience are both necessary for living victoriously and conquering the battlefield of the mind.
First, we need to understand who Christ is, what He has done, and what He intends to do in and through us.
Second, we must learn to always obey the Lord despite our personal desires and opinions.
Third, we must increase our knowledge and obedience to sustain our intimacy in the face of adversity.
You risk losing intimacy and joy if you compromise the truth about who you are and what you have in Christ. Learn to challenge every mindset and confront ingrained beliefs that can undermine your confidence and passion. A greater dependency on God to shape your thought life around the gospel will lead to a deeper sense of trust and faith.
