As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
Colossians 2:6 (MEV)
You cannot get any closer to God than being in Christ.
We have oneness with God because Christ bridged the gap between ourselves and God through His death and resurrection. Instead of feeling like God is far, we can enjoy an abiding closeness with the Lord now that He dwells in us.
For some reason, many Christians have forgotten their union with Christ. They longed to be closed to God when God has done everything in His power to bring them closer to Him. Worshiping and praying becomes their “baits” to “attract” God’s presence and power. They would pray prayers, or they would sing songs to try and solve a spiritual problem that doesn’t exist anymore. After all, God has already promised He will never leave or forsake us.
By uniting us together with Christ, God guarantees that we will never be separated from Him again. Your spiritual walk and health must be based on the truth, and not your feelings because it is the truth that will set you free. So, if you feel you are not close enough to God, that’s just not the right way to measure your relationship with Him. In fact, it will result in you doing the right thing for the wrong reason with the wrong motive. For example, as believers, we already have the anointing of God because Christ is in us. But if we are not walking in the revelation of Christ’s finished work, worshipping and praying becomes “tasks” or “performances” to conjure for more anointing or power.
Our intimacy with Christ rests on our proximity to Christ.
We are already filled with the fullness of Christ who lives within us. When we learn to live according to our new true identity and walk in the truth of our completeness in Christ, the Christian life becomes restful, easy and light. And that should be the way.
