If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

Romans 8:31-32 (ESV)

The gospel reveals the unfathomable riches of God’s divine love in His work of salvation. It is reassuring to know God is for us and no one—not even we ourselves—can condemn or separate us from His perfect love.

You are accepted in the Beloved.

It is God’s love that elects and predestines you for adoption to sonship through union with Christ. This was accomplished when Jesus perfected you forever through His one perfect sacrifice. (cf. Hebrews 10:14) Your best response, then, is to keep following Jesus with a heartfelt desire to become more like Him so that you might enjoy the joyous completeness of your salvation.

The basis of the victorious Christian life is to keep counting yourself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. The more you rest on God’s grace, the stronger you will be able to resist sin and temptation. If you hold on to this truth, you give yourself no room to sin. But if you do sin, please don’t feel despaired or discouraged—because Jesus Himself will openly advocate for us, pleading and reminding the Father of what He did for us.

Whatever sin you are battling cannot rob you of your rights and privileges as a child of God. It cannot reverse Christ’s triumphant work of the Cross or erase your brand-new true identity or jeopardise your security of eternity.

Being eternally secured in Christ and united with Christ through His imputed righteousness is the very heart of the gospel. All the precious promises of the New Covenant are yours in Christ since the Cross has established and secured these present and eternal blessings for everyone whom Jesus died to save. Therefore, take up your position in Christ and stand still. No matter what comes against us, we can rest ourselves completely in His hands.
