If anyone belongs to Christ, then he is made new. The old things have gone; everything is made new!

1 Corinthians 5:17 (GW)

We have an eternal and unbreakable union with Christ. This forms the basis of our identity and security. When we understand that it is who we are in Christ, and not what we do for Christ that makes a real difference in our lives.

Learning to live our Christian life from God’s point of view frees us from the nagging feeling of not measuring up or not being good enough. You have worth because Christ paid the ultimate price for your sin and redeem you to Himself. You are now one with Christ because He has united you to Himself. You are in Him and He is in you. You can become like Christ because He shares and joins His life with yours.

Being Christlike is not a goal or something we can produce ourselves. It rests on our union with Christ, where He abides in us, and we abide in Him. It is about learning to identify ourselves with Christ, knowing who He is to us and who we are to Him. When His gospel dwells richly in us and His Spirit enabling us, we will thrive and grow and become more and more like Him.

Do not make your Christian experience as a reflection of your Christian life. It will only lead to performance mentality and behaviour. If you fixed your eyes on yourself instead of Jesus, you will inevitably be filled with guilt, shame, and blame.

The good news is Christ has made it possible for you to be united with Him. It is through His grace that He given you the faith to believe in Him and receive His fullness. Your union with Christ and abiding in Christ brings you from being apart from God to being one with God.

This oneness with God will have a profound impact on your life and inspire you to attempt and achieve amazing things together with Him. There is no more fear of failure or worry of judgement or disapproval because we continually do everything by living in our union with Christ.
