Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

Some Christians have the mistaken belief that God micromanages their every move. As a result, they need numerous confirmations from God before they step out and achieve anything. While they may believe they are obedient and humble, their trust in God is shallow and lacking. In doing so they are limiting God and potentially frustrating His purpose.

God's will is not like driving down a single straight road without changing lanes or taking a detour. It is a matter of learning to discern God's guidance and direction through His Holy Spirit. Learn to put your faith in God because He knows where He is taking us. According to the Prophet Isaiah, God wants you to exercise your free will by learning to listen to Him and follow what He says. Sure, you can still make mistakes, face setbacks, and stumble, but God has already foreseen them and prepared for them.

Even if you make mistakes, trust God to guide you back to Him.

When you walk with God, there is no such thing as a mistake from a spiritual standpoint. Rather, when you have an open heart to receive and hear from God, you will have many amazing learning experiences. When you refuse to be teachable and remain humble, your mistakes remain mistakes. Then you will keep going through the same situation unless you learn to adjust your attitude towards God.

The children of Israel failed to heed God's instructions at Kadesh Barnea before entering the Promised Land of Canaan. As a result, they wandered for forty years until God brought them back to the same place. But this time, they were prepared to obey God and take possession of the land.

The good news is that once you are in Christ, you are already in God's will.

Just know that God is at work inside you, giving you the will and power to accomplish what pleases Him (Philippians 2:13). Walking in the rhythm of God's grace frees you from the dread of falling outside of God's will and surrendering to your own self-effort ways of doing things.
