The heart of the Christian life is knowing who Jesus Christ is and who you are in Him. Whether you are a new believer or a mature Christian, your relationship with Him is firmly based on your understanding of the revelation of His gospel.

The Apostle Paul explains how the gospel was a well-kept mystery (Colossians 1:24-27) hidden from the beginning of creation and for centuries and generations, but now, out of His good pleasure, God decides to reveal the Person of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, and the life you can have in Him.

The word "gospel” comes from the Anglo-Saxon godspell (meaning "God's Story") which is originally derived from the Greek euaggelion. Euaggelion is a compound word. Eu means "good and prosperous" and aggelos means "message.” In other words, the gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ, the glad tidings of good things we have through Him (Isaiah 52:7; Luke 1 19; Romans 10:15).

Within the context of the New Testament, the gospel is the simple but profound good news of God's immense and immeasurable love for us, that He saved us through the atoning sacrifice of His only begotten Son (Romans 5:8).

The Apostle Paul reveals Jesus Christ throughout his epistles—not only on the character of His Person but also on the completeness of His finished work on the Cross. Paul is very explicit about the fact that he is not promoting his own interpretation of the gospel. He uses the phrase "the gospel of Jesus Christ" several times to emphasise that every revelation of Christ comes directly from Him (Galatians 1:11-12).

It is through the gospel of Jesus Christ that God discloses the innermost thoughts of His heart and mind, about how much He truly feels and thinks about you, and how much He truly loves you. As a result, the unveiling of Jesus is truly amazing and life-changing. This is why it is a blessing to share the gospel with everyone in order for them to receive Christ and be entirely set apart for Him.

Salvation is based on what God has done for you, not on what you have done for God. There is no better way for God to show His love than for Jesus to save you. There is no better way for God to demonstrate His love than for Jesus to live in you. There is no better way for God to demonstrate His love than for Jesus to return for you.

One of the main reasons why many Christians are hesitant to share the gospel is that they are unsure about its message. If the gospel appears to be veiled to these believers, how much more so to those who are now without Christ?

It was by the dispensation of God's grace that the Apostle Paul was given the revelation to preach the mystery of the full blessing of the gospel (Romans 15:29; Ephesians 3:1-3). He explained to the Colossians his own personal call to reveal Jesus Christ:

[Christ] we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

Colossians 1:28-29 (ESV)

The Apostle Paul rested fully on God's power working in him to reveal Christ in all wisdom so that he could present everyone perfect in Christ. The word "perfect" is derived from the Greek word teleios which means “to be fully mature and complete". To be perfect in Christ means to imitate Him in character, life, and purpose. This occurs in the context of a genuine relationship with Him, in which you will continually grow and gain a firm understanding of your life in Him.
