In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Romans 8:26-27 New International Version

All of our prayers are heard in the presence of the Trinity.

No prayer ever gets lost, and no prayer ever gets wasted.  While we may feel God is not hearing or answering our prayers. He is actually listening and doesn't miss a word of what we think and speak.

How is the Trinity involved in our prayers?

Prayer is fellowshipping with God. The more we pray the more we enjoy God. Praying is not just telling God our needs but allowing God to speak and open us to deeper understandings of our friendship and relationship to Him.

Each member of the Trinity gives Himself to us in the work of prayer.

It is through the finished work of the Son that we gain full access to the throne of grace of the Father. We carry a heightened sense of expectancy because we can expect to receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). It is the Son who qualified us to receive every promise of God (1 Corinthians 1:20). This is why we pray “in the name of Jesus”— His name is what grants us access to God and all the promises the Father had made to us (2 Peter 1:4).

There are times when we don't know what to pray and are afraid to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in our weaknesses (Romans 8:26). Learn to pray and respond to the Holy Spirit and not react to the situation. The Spirit within us is not a spirit of fear, but the Spirit who gives us power, love and a sound mind to trust Him with every fear, doubt and struggle.

Even when we pray unknowingly or unaware our prayers are out of context, the Holy Spirit takes our impoverished prayers and turns them to perfect prayers that align with the Father's will. The best part is when we pray, we don't pray alone. Jesus is always praying with us and for us (Romans 8:34).

When we appreciate and understand the role of the Trinity in our prayers, we will have both faith and confidence to grow a healthy prayer life.
