Just as the Father has sent me, I am also sending you…Receive the Holy Spirit.
John 20:21 (EHV)
Christ sent us all to carry on His work until He returns. Whatever our gifts and vocations, we all share the same prophetic call to make disciples of all nations and spread the gospel to those who have not heard.
Recognising that we are incapable of carrying out His will on our own, He empowers us through His Spirit to serve as His ambassadors, sharing the good news of the Kingdom with a broken and lost world. Unfortunately, many of us prefer to live a passive and underwhelming version of the Christian life. There is still so much that needs to happen within us before we can reflect a much greater obedience to Jesus in His ministry of reconciliation. The challenge is not only to believe the gospel, but also to be bold in carrying it out.
Is there anything that keeps you from fully obeying Jesus?
After all, He has already given you everything you need to carry out His work in the world. We do not have a resource or product problem. The gospel remains as good and life-changing today as it ever was. Instead, we have a hearing problem. However, God can heal and set us free from our spiritual inertia.
A true missional life involves the Trinity working together to bring us to a state of grace-centered obedience to the call of God. The transition from selfishness to God-centeredness will enable us to look beyond ourselves and serve others.
