And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Colossians 2:13-15 New King James Version

The gospel is as plain as much as it is profound.

It is simple enough for a child to follow and deep enough to astound the best mind. We can never outgrow the gospel. The gospel does not stop being relevant or become unnecessary once we are saved. The gospel actually affects every aspect of our lives and how we experience the permeating reality of Christ’s presence and power in every situation and circumstance of the day.

The gospel does not make a bad person good, but rather the gospel makes a spiritually dead person spiritually alive. If the first point is true, then the gospel is just about being moral and doing the right things. The gospel however is so much more than that because it is the very power of God working for our salvation.

The Apostle Paul tells us that when we were dead in sin, God made us alive in Christ.

God accomplished this by doing three crucial and interconnected things.

First, God completely and eternally forgave us from all our sins through the Cross so that God will no longer count our sins against us.

Second, God completely wiped out the damning evidence against us for not obeying God perfectly and nailed it to the Cross so that we are set free from meeting all the conditions and requirements of the law for our salvation.

Third, God delivered us from Satan's power and authority by defeating him on the Cross so that Satan no longer has any legal right to accuse us and remind us of our sins.

It is obvious our salvation did not come from what we have to do but what God has done for us in and through Christ. We are doing injustice to ourselves and complete injustice to those who are near and dear to us if we don’t value or understand how great a salvation God has provided for us.

Pray that you will never grow weary of hearing the gospel or lose interest in the gospel.
