And by his one perfect sacrifice, [Jesus] made us perfectly holy and complete for all time!
Hebrews 10:14 The Passion Translation
A healthy Christian life is rooted in Christ and what He accomplished for us on the Cross.
God's justice and mercy were fully and forever satisfied by Christ's one and perfect sacrifice on the cross. We did not need God to reconcile Himself to us. Rather, we were the ones who needed to make peace with God. Nonetheless, we are unable to do so on our own. Only God's grace through faith can bring this reconciliation crisis to an end once and for all.
In the Cross, God generously invites everyone to be reconciled to Him.
God alone is responsible for all aspects of our salvation. The debt of sin that was once insurmountable is now fully paid for by God Himself. The chasm of separation that was once unbridgeable is now fully mended by God Himself. The hostility that was once irreconcilable is now fully pardoned by God. Praise God that there is nothing more we can do to improve on what He has accomplished.
Christ died for all so that all might live for Christ.
Indeed, the gospel brings true rest because Christ's victory over sin and death is final and settled. There is no more fear of judgement, and you can live a life of love and faith without feeling as if God is still somehow disappointed in you. If, on the other hand, you are continuously troubled by thoughts of self-condemnation, guilt, and shame, you should consider whether you truly accept the gospel and comprehend God's love and goodness for yourself.
We have to remember that just as Christ made us perfect in God’s sight, He will also continue to transform us into His perfect image.
The gospel will never produce a fearful or timid spirit.
The gospel, in reality, gives us spiritual power, supernatural love, and a sound mind. If your faith is frail and shaky, listen to the reassuring good news of God's amazing love over and over again, and learn to appreciate His gentle mercy in a new way.
