20 Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.

Ephesians 3:20 The Passion Translation

God doesn't leave us, even in the toughest times.

The Apostle Paul tells us that God can outdo our highest expectation because He is not limited by any circumstances we are facing. If we believe He has our best interest at heart, then prayer is not to get God to do something but to join ourselves with God in what He is already doing. Instead of saying, "God, why are you doing this to me?" we should be saying, "God, what are you trying to show me?" In other words, prayer opens our eyes to see something that we did not or could not see before.

Prayer increases the depth of your intimacy with God.

When you know and love someone well, it is easy to sense and feel what the person is feeling and act accordingly. Likewise, prayer reveals God's heart, and this makes hearing and obeying easy and enjoyable. Once you are willing to follow His leading, you will feel the grace and faith bubbling within you to do all He asks of you.

If we do struggle with prayer, we need to understand it is not a faith issue but a love issue. It is about not believing how much God loves us and how much He accepts and approves us. Without this gospel revelation, we don't have the wisdom and boldness to pray as we ought to or how to.

Instead of feeling inadequate about your prayer life, start filling your heart with the truth of God's empowering love and pray from the overflow of your heart's desires. Knowing that God never leaves you or forsakes you is more than enough to see you through your darkest times and smile through some of your hardest tears. Once you are fully persuaded and assured that God is your deepest satisfaction, you don't have to worry over unanswered prayers or prayers didn’t go the way you hoped for.
