According to the law of sympathetic resonance, when an object with a specific frequency vibrates and is brought close to another object with a matching frequency, the second object will also resonate. For example, suppose there are two pianos in the same room, and when you strike a key on one of them, the same key vibrates on the other.

Once we are in Christ, we are a brand new creation with a new nature. And Christ sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us so that we can live this new life in accordance with His leading.

But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

John 15:26-27 (ESV)

Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and the truth He reveals to us is not an abstract idea, but the very Person of Jesus Himself and how we can continue to live in the supernatural reality of our life in Him.

Our behaviour and actions will follow suit when our hearts resonate with what the Holy Spirit reveals about us in the gospel. This is why Jesus says that as a result of the Holy Spirit speaking the truth about Jesus to us, we will tell everyone the truth about Him. In other words, the Holy Spirit empowers us to reveal the truth of Jesus in us to all. This explains Peter and John's remark to the Sanhedrin:

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Acts 4:20 (NKJV)

Even though Peter and John lacked education and oratory skills, the Sanhedrin recognised their boldness because they possessed the substance of Christ (Acts 4:13). Peter and John were able to heal the crippled man in Jesus' name and power because their beings and hearts were resonating and reverberating with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 3:6).

The two apostles were more than just eyewitnesses. They testified to the spiritual reality of Christ living in them and wanting others to experience His abiding presence as well. Remember that Peter and John do not have more power or faith than us. The same Holy Spirit working in them is the same Holy Spirit working in us—the difference is not how much we achieve, but how willing we are to receive.

Feast on Jesus, and you will accomplish everything He has revealed to you.
