Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Mark 1:16-18

Surrendering all to Jesus is the first step in following Him. Of course, this is not as simple as it sounds. What holds us back is a lack of trust. We cannot believe for God's promises and provisions if we do not trust Him.

Both Peter and Andrew believed Jesus, and their lives were never the same after that. They started timid, but as they placed their trust in Jesus, their faith grew stronger and stronger.

Trust leads to faith, and faith enables us to act promptly without hesitation. Learn to take active forward steps of trust towards God, and faith will follow. We may not always get it right; we will still stumble and fall—but the most important thing is not to lose your trust in God.

Going through dark days is better than wishing them away. The disciples of Jesus were in many difficult situations, but they witnessed again and again His deliverance and salvation. They gained a trust in God that cannot be denied or defeated. Likewise, God wants you to learn trust and experience peace through surrender.

Trust God even when life hurts. Or when it appears that everything is working against you. Remember that God's plan is greater and better than your anxieties, fears and worries put together. Just keep following Him and you will experience His presence and power in real and tangible ways.
