A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (NLT)
Satan is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44), so his most effective tactics against Christians are deception, untruth, and misdirection. However, according to the Apostle Paul, God has provided us with the perfect armour in Christ to resist and overcome the devil.
The old saying goes, "The devil loves to make a playground out of people's minds!" His lies will not only plague your mind but will also affect your body (Luke 13:10-11). When we choose to believe a lie and allow it to take root in our hearts, we are gripped by a false view of God and His Word, convincing us of things that are not found in Scripture or reflect God's true nature and character.
The most effective strategy for defeating Satan is to live in the reality of your identity in Christ. Learn to walk in close relationship with God so that the devil cannot deceive you again. The devil cannot deceive or defeat you if you understand who you are and what you have in Christ.
Paul instructed the Ephesians to remain vigilant and always pray earnestly in the Spirit (Ephesians 6:18). When you are constantly connected to the Father through prayer, you can easily discern and resist the devil's opposing voice. Make it difficult for the devil to deny freedom God has given you in Christ. Remember that the gospel proclaims that we are free because Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1). This means we already have the victory because we believe in the Lord and trust in His finished work.
