O God, please be willing to rescue me. O Lord, hurry and help me. May those who are trying to take my life be embarrassed and ashamed. May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed. May those who say, “Aha! Aha!” be driven back and disgraced. May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you. May those who love to experience your deliverance say continually, “May God be praised!” I am oppressed and needy. O God, hurry to me. You are my helper and my deliverer. O Lord do not delay.

Psalm 70 New English Translation

God providentially and purposefully guides us through our life’s experiences and circumstances for our good and for His glory. If we learn to trust God and put our confidence in Him, we will discover that He never disappoints or fails us, even when circumstances appear hopeless or impossible.

Though we are not guaranteed immunity from pain, suffering, and sadness, we are assured that God would never forget or forsake us. This is one of the greatest blessings of being a child of God. That is, no matter how horrible or difficult our circumstances are right now, we always have God's undivided attention.

Trying times brings our fears and insecurities to the surface. They were always there, but we never realised or were aware of them until we were severely affected by life's hardships and trials. God uses hard times to teach us about Himself and about ourselves. The Psalms attest to this truth. We can recollect countless occasions when David faced challenges and obstacles. Instead of losing hope, he turned those painful periods into pivot points for growth and trust.

David shows us we should seek God in times of distress. We must never lose sight of God as the One who fights for us, defends us, and provides for us. Rest in Him, and He will rejuvenate and restore our strength.

God has good things in store for those who love Him and willing to wait on Him. Our Father is fully aware of your cares and concerns, as well as the requests you will make of Him. That should give you the courage and confidence to worship and pray expectantly, knowing that His answer is always right and timely.
