O God, please be willing to rescue me. O Lord, hurry and help me. May those who are trying to take my life be embarrassed and ashamed. May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed. May those who say, “Aha! Aha!” be driven back and disgraced. May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you. May those who love to experience your deliverance say continually, “May God be praised!” I am oppressed and needy. O God, hurry to me. You are my helper and my deliverer. O Lord do not delay.

Psalm 70 New English Translation

God providentially and purposefully guides us through our life’s experiences and circumstances for our good and for His glory. If we learn to trust God and put our confidence in Him, we will discover God never disappoints or fails even when things seem hopeless or impossible.

Though we are not promised immunity from pain, suffering and sorrows, we are promised that God will never leave us or forsake us. This is one of the greatest privileges for being a child of God. That is, we always have God’s undivided attention—no matter how bad or how difficult the circumstances are right now.

Trying times brings our fears and insecurities to the surface. They are always there but we never know or become aware of them until we get badly shaken up by the troubles and trials of life.

God uses our fears and insecurities to teach us something about Himself and something about us. The Psalms can testify to this truth. We can recall the numerous times when David encountered threats and obstacles. However, instead of feeling despondent, he turned those painful periods into pivot points for growth and trust. Likewise, we must learn to rely on God to guide us through the process and the experience makes us better as sons and daughters.

David shows us we should seek God in times of crisis. We must never stop seeing God as the One who fights our battles and who protects and provides for us. Find rest in the Lord and He will renew and restore our strength.

God has good things in store for those who love Him and are willing to wait on Him.

Our Father already knows your needs and cares and He also knows what you will ask of Him. That should give you the boldness and confidence to worship and pray with expectation, believing His answer is always best and timely.
