The gospel declares that it is for freedom that Christ has set you free

Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)

Have you ever questioned, if Christ truly came to set you free, why don't you always experience it in your daily life? Why do we continue to suffer day after day with the same sinful habits we loathed and fought against for so long? Why is it so difficult for us to genuinely live in the full freedom that we have in Christ?

The freedom Christ won is both absolute and complete. There is nothing more for you to do but receive the truth and put your trust in His finished work. However, to experience that freedom in Christ, we must first comprehend what Christ has achieved through His finished work on the cross. The more we hear it, grasp it, and trust in the truth of His life given to each of us, the more we value and appropriate this freedom in our lives.

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:17 (NKJV)

What Christ has done for you outweighs what Adam has done to you.

Your salvation is the restoration of the life that God has always intended for you. Your rightful calling is to reign in life through Christ. You are empowered by His grace and righteousness to experience freedom in your life and even its challenges. When you lose sight of this revelation, you risk allowing negative emotions and wrongful behaviour to take over.

Too often believers seek an emotional fix to their spiritual problems. They would move from one church to another looking for “a deeper experience” rather than living out the truth of identity as God’s sons and daughters. Spiritual encounters, seminars and sermons are valid if they bring you to Jesus, however, if they cause you to focus on yourself instead of Jesus, the gospel is no longer taught or proclaimed.

Every time you feel defeated by life, remember the reality of the gospel. A personal relationship with Christ gives you the ability to reign in life. Believe in Him and He will enable you to live in the reality of His grace and righteousness throughout the days of your life.
