It is true that you planned to do something bad to me. But really, God was planning good things. God’s plan was to use me to save the lives of many people. And that is what happened.

Genesis 50:20 (ERV)

God has the ability to use something that was meant for evil and turn it for your good.

Even in the face of injustice and unfairness, keep your hope up. Like in the case of Joseph, he saw beyond his brother's murderous intent and duplicity to God's goodness. Instead of being resentful and vindictive, he showed love to those who had treated him mercilessly.

Learn to see your pain and suffering from God's perspective.

Joseph wouldn't have ended himself in Egypt and flourished if he hadn't been rejected and betrayed by his brothers. Joseph acted and behaved like a son towards God, despite the fact that he was treated like a slave by others. This gave God the opportunity to honour Joseph by using every circumstance in his life to bring about His purpose and will.

Never attempt to exact revenge on anyone.

We cannot overcome evil with evil; we can only overcome evil with good.

Regardless of how tempting it might be to exact revenge or how justified you might feel, Jesus exhorts us to have faith in Him and He will do right by us (Romans 12:19). This is because God will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly before Him. Instead, choose to forgive and love so that you can set yourself free from bitterness and anger.

Be better than those who hurt you because if you repay them for what they have done to you, you become just like them. Instead, bless those who curse you and show kindness to those who mistreat and oppress you (Luke 6:28). When we obey and trust His words, our Lord Jesus promised us a reward in heaven that exceeds our wildest dreams (Matthew 5:12).
