God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)

If we continue to focus on our sinful shortcomings and failures, we will certainly miss out on the love of God. God never excuses our sin. But God solve it. He sent Jesus to redeem us and save us from our sin.

The dreaded ugliness of sin is the reason for the Cross. This is why we can’t make light of sin. Do not use your freedom in Christ to indulge in sinful ways. Instead, continue to walk in light of who you are already in Christ, and receive His grace and power to triumph over sinful habits.

While we are forgiven for our sins, sometimes we still have to suffer the consequences of our sins. These consequences are not God’s punishments, but rather the direct or indirect repercussions of our sinful choices and behaviour. Nevertheless, God does not leave us or forsake us when we suffer one of these consequences. He will give us strength and peace as we face it.

God's justice is not retributive, but restorative.

While retributive justice seeks to punish wrongdoing, restorative justice seeks to undo the damage caused by the wrongdoing. Thus, God deals with us not according to our sin, but according to our righteousness in Christ. Even though it pains us to face the consequences of our sins, God uses them to heal our wounds and restore us. Such is the lovingkindness and tender mercy of our Righteous Father.
