Finding every Scripture verse that speaks of your life in Christ is one practical approach to growing and maturing spiritually. Write them down and confess them out, believing that the promise of His Word about you will be fulfilled by the power of His Word in you.

God wants you to succeed in your Christian life, but only if you rely on Him. He is aware of your needs and will meet them. God measures success differently from us. To the rest of the world, success is synonymous with hard work. To God, success is the effect of a restful relationship with Him. To the rest of the world, success means maintaining a high quality of living, status, and possessions. Success, according to God, is the result of resting on His Word.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

Psalm 1:1-3 (ESV)

The Psalmist says the believer who meditates on God’s Word is compared to a tree planted by the rivers of water (cf. John 7:38). His Word will enable you to be fruitful in all seasons, healthy in all ways, and prosperous in all you do.

Meditation comes from the Hebrew word, hagah which means “chewing the cud”. It depicts a leisurely and unhurried approach of feeding your spirit with God's Word. It is saying to yourself what God says about you. It is also speaking God's Word over every circumstance in your life.

Don’t dismiss God’s prescription for success. Those who claim, “I don’t have time for it” are frequently preoccupied with making their own success. They are relying on their own strength and wisdom for results, denying God the opportunity to fulfil the promise of His Word. To “meditate” is more than just thinking "happy thoughts,” it is to believe every truth God says about your life in Christ.

Christ is God’s Word to meet your every need.

He is the Word of Faith who gives you a believing heart (Romans 10:17).

He is the Word of God who brings you into God’s true rest (Hebrews 4:2-3).

He is the Word of Life who enables you to live abundantly (Philippians 2:16).

He is the Word of Reconciliation who makes peace for you with God. (2 Corinthians 5:19).

He is the Word of Righteousness who grows you into maturity (Hebrews 5:13).

He is the Word of Truth who frees you from all falsehood (Ephesians 1:13; Colossians 1:5).

Fear, worry, and anxiety may easily infiltrate our minds when we forget who we are and whose we are in Christ. How do we get rid of these thoughts? The Apostle Paul thought himself happy (Acts 26:2). He wrote to the Philippians, saying:

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Philippians 4:8 (ESV)

The Apostle Paul instructs us to meditate on these good things we have in Christ. God is unable to think for us. It is ultimately our choice as to what we want to think about. Choose to dwell on things that lift you up rather than things that bring you down.
