He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.

Isaiah 53:3 (NLT)

The Prophet Isaiah's description of Jesus as "a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief" reveals that God is with us in our suffering. While God seems distant or unconcerned, He is actively involved in our personal struggles. This is why He sent His Son Jesus, who knew no sorrow, to become acquainted with our sorrows, to suffer as we do, and to stand in our place.

Over the next few days before Jesus' ultimate sacrifice on the cross, the religious authorities were testing Jesus to find fault with Him in order to condemn Him. Like the Passover Lamb, Jesus was without sin and perfect in every way. This qualifies Him to take away our sin and suffering and heal us.

Many times God will not spare or shield us from life's dark moments. It is not because God is causing them or too weak to stop them. While God may not explain why we must suffer, He is always with us to share our pain. We must constantly keep ourselves in the love of God as we wait patiently on the Lord (Jude 1:21). Remember that God's love is not a riddle to be solved, but a mystery to be discovered and experienced.

Trials will always come. Some of us are just coming out of one, while others are about to enter one. However, it is not the difficult circumstances that decide our attitude, countenance, and endurance, but rather our trust in God. So, regardless of how you feel right now, don't dismiss what Jesus has done and is doing for you right now.
