Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with everything God has for you.
Ephesians 3:19 (ERV)
When was the last time you felt truly loved by God?
Sometimes we have been Christians for so long that we have lost our sense of connection and closeness to God. This detachment is caused by us, not God. We somehow act like orphans, even though we have already been completely adopted as children in God's Kingdom and family.
An orphan spirit has an impact on our awareness of God's love and our ability to receive it. Experiencing God’s love is the foundational aspect of the Christian life. If we do not rest our faith on His love, we will find it difficult to trust Him, believe He is good, or care about us.
God is perfect love. God understands your love language and can communicate with you in such a way that you feel and experience His love in the most complete way possible. In His love for us in Christ, He desires to manifest the fullness of His character in our actions and attitudes. We cannot claim to love God if we cannot love others as He loves us. If we struggle to love those in our lives, it is because we are resisting God's grace to be kind, thoughtful, and mindful. When we surrender our resistance to God, however, we shall have His grace to help us.
The Cross is the best evidence of God's love for us. Indeed, it is our confidence in the gospel that God's love becomes real to us. Then, our lives become the tangible expression of God's love to others. People may not grasp the gospel immediately, but they can experience it through our love for them.
