My child, hold on to your wisdom and insight. Never let them get away from you. They will provide you with life—a pleasant and happy life. You can go safely on your way and never even stumble. You will not be afraid when you go to bed, and you will sleep soundly through the night. You will not have to worry about sudden disasters, such as come on the wicked like a storm. The Lord will keep you safe. He will not let you fall into a trap.

Proverbs 3:21-26 (GNT)

Let God be your confidence and you will find safety, protection, and rest.

God is a covenantal God, as the writer of Proverbs reminds us. This signifies that God will keep His promises and guide us through the trials of life. While there are many reasons to be afraid and concerned in this world, knowing God is good, kind and sovereign makes our circumstances less frightening.

Even as Christians, we worry too much and overthink things. However, when we hold on to the truth of who God is and learn to walk in the wisdom of His Word, we become better in handling our fears and overcoming them. Both Jesus and His disciples were caught in the same storm, yet He slept while they were terrified.

God is ahead of us.

He knows where He is taking us, and we may be confident of His unfailing love and abiding presence in any time of uncertainty. While the Enemy enjoys working against us, our loving Father is always and perfectly working everything for our good and His glory.

Pray for wisdom and insight as you move forward into the new year.

Make your walk with God a passion, not just a routine. Desire to grow deep in the knowledge of God’s Word, and He will give you the understanding you need to follow Him. The more you know of His promises, the more you rest on His provisions. Then you shall experience God's love, strength, and comfort to carry you through times of crisis, grief, and suffering.
