I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

Revelation 3:8 (ESV)

Looking for a perfect church is a major obstacle to the mission of God.

Consider the church of Philadelphia. It was the only church that Jesus praises and has many encouraging words for the believers. It was not the largest or richest church, and it was surely not the most spiritually mature church (in comparison to the church of Ephesus).

Despite their lack of financial resources and numbers, the Philadelphians satisfy the Lord because they have immense faith in Him. Because they kept His word and did not deny His name, our Lord Jesus promised to open a wide avenue for them to bear witness for Him! In other words, Jesus empowers them to influence and impact more lives than they could ever anticipate. Who knows, maybe by being true to what God asks of us, God will trust us with bigger and better things.

Imagine what would happen if every believer chose a church that allows them to walk every day in their calling and pour into the lives of others, sharing God's love with others, rather than merely feeding their own self-interests and motivations. Such a church, I believe, will prevail, and the gates of Hell will never be able to halt what God will do in and through these Christians who dare to live solely for Him.

Don't think you or your church are too small to make a positive difference.

If God is in it, you will see breakthroughs and success even in the most difficult areas. David was not intimidated by the size of Goliath because he saw the size of God. A "nation" of 5000 hungry households fed by the lad who cheerfully gave up one meal (five loaves and two fish) to Jesus. After he gave his only shepherd's rod to God, Moses would use it many times to save God's people.

Whether you are a single believer or a small group of believers, remain faithful to God and all He has given you in Christ—and God will undoubtedly enhance your ability and capacity to achieve even much more than you can ever ask or dream.
