For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12, New King James Version

If you desire to live an active life of faith, learn to recognise and obey the guidance of the Holy Spirit. One of His primary roles is to bring God’s truth and will to light in a fresh and even intriguing way. He will never ask or expect you to do something that is opposite of what He has already said in the Bible. As such, if you want to become more inclined to hearing the voice of God, you must commit to knowing the word of God.

Bear in mind, we don’t study the Bible for more rules to follow, but we study the Bible to enjoy a more loving and intimate friendship and relationship with God.

There are some things in the Bible that we cannot discover purely by observation. They must be revealed by the Holy Spirit who illuminates our hearts and minds to persuade and produce a desired effect in us.

By cultivating a regular habit of listening to what the Spirit is saying through Scripture, we will hear God speak to us. God wishes to speak to us not because we earn it through hours and hours of Bible study, but because He loves us and wants us to walk closely with Him in love and confidence. God will not only direct our path, but He will give us success and grant us favour when we heed to what we hear.

We should always be ready for God to speak to us by His Spirit and through His Scripture.

Hearing God grows faith and courage in us to face the hardness and sorrows of life. It protects us from over-thinking and wild imaginations and also keeps fears and worries in check. We become spiritually healthy and whole because His Spirit has the power to transform us to be like Jesus in every thought, word, and deed.
