Do not linger thinking about events of the past; consider not the things of old. I am about to do something new. Now it comes to fruition; can you not perceive it? I will make a path through the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NCB)

Our God is a God of new beginnings.

While God’s character does not change, He will change direction and ushers in new seasons of growth, renewal, and transformation. The more we allow God to lead the change in us, the more fruitful our faith journey becomes. We will discover that the constant process of growth along the way is more important than the destination itself.

Be open and be willing to follow to where God is taking you.

We must learn not to dwell in the past as we journey into the future with God (cf. Philippians 3:13-14). This involves actively listening to God and adjusting to the leading of His Spirit. We will experience profound changes and growth as we mature with a renewed mind and a new understanding of God.

A new season is often God’s way of delivering us from attachments and addictions that hinders us from pursuing our identity in Christ. Without a renewing of the mind, old sinful habits and strongholds will continue to plague us. A new beginning with God, on the other hand, enables us to enjoy greater freedom and more depth in our faith.

All of us need to grow beyond our current experience of God.

God will amaze you with new insights and revelations about His person and power as you respond to Him and follow Him. With God, what appears to be impossible is very possible. You will feel joy, peace, and satisfaction as you witness and experience His wondrous working in and through you.

My prayer is that you will enjoy a new beginning with God this year.
