Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Romans 12:6-8 (ESV)

Many churches function more like an event community than as a spiritual family on mission. Lots of our energy and focus are spent on making everyone comfortable and happy, rather than equipping and empowering them to use their spiritual gifts for the building up and edifying of others.

According to the Apostle Paul, every believer has been given at least one spiritual gift by the Holy Spirit to help grow and benefit the whole church. We don’t need to be “spiritual giants” to serve God and one another. We just need to be humble and act in proportion to our faith. As we continue to love and obey Him, God will strengthen our faith to achieve greater things than we could ever conceive.

All of us can contribute to the health and well-being of our church family.

Do you know your spiritual gift(s)? How are you using them to bless and minister to the needs of others? As we learn to bless each other with the gifts God has given, we will benefit greatly because we are part of one body in Christ. It is through our efforts and ministry together that our gifts will also impact the wider world who has yet to hear and witness the love of God in real and tangible ways.

We see this happening in Acts.

The early disciples used their revelatory gifts and other service gifts in their ministry to witness and reach the lost for Christ. Like them, we do have the power of the Spirit living and working within us. Open yourself to what God might want you to do, and you will see opportunities everywhere you go.
