So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Romans 10:17 (ESV)

God has chosen everyone to be saved by His grace.

No one is excluded from God’s love. No one is excluded from God’s offer of salvation. No one is excluded from the need for salvation. Everyone was included in Christ’s redemptive work, and everyone has the opportunity to freely choose to trust in Christ as their Saviour.

God has not arbitrarily chosen some to be saved and others to be lost for all eternity. This kind of thinking misconstrues the character of God and presents Him as unfair and unloving. We know that God not only extends His saving grace to everyone, but He also enables them to believe through the gospel. God does not leave Himself without a witness. The Bible tells us God reveals Himself not just through nature, but also through history and in the hearts of all people. And the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ provides everyone with the opportunity to respond and live out in faith.

We do not contribute to our salvation; rather, we receive it.

If we believe that it is our faith that saves us, faith becomes our work, something we can be proud of and take credit for. Faith is never our work; it is always and will always be God's work in us. Our ability to act in faith is a gift of God’s grace, not the result of our own efforts. The Apostle Paul tells us faith comes through hearing and hearing the word of Christ. Because the gospel is God's power for our salvation, the more we hear it, the more faith is infused and instilled in us, enabling us to accept and believe the truth of Jesus Christ.

Let us partner with God to bring the good news to everyone who needs to hear and understand it. Pray for God’s grace to help you in presenting the gospel as plainly as possible, allowing the power of His Word and the presence of His Spirit to do the work of transforming every heart.
