For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

1 Corinthians 15:9-10 (NKJV)

Grace is God's ability to change you, and grace is God's willingness to give you time to change.

The Apostle Paul's life was drastically changed by God's mercy, transforming him from a persecutor of the gospel to a preacher of the gospel. In retrospect, Paul testified how unworthy he was of God's grace, and this is also how he discovered grace is always for the undeserving. Grace works best when we are too weak, lost, or broken to save ourselves—and it is also through grace that we can become more like Christ and fulfil His purpose in and through us.

God gives grace to the humble.

Grace has the capacity and power to heal the wounds of your sinful past and usher you into your promised future in Christ. Because God's grace is infinite and unfailing, there is nothing you could possibly require that would be beyond His ability to provide. In other words, grace reveals God's abundant generosity and goodness to you.

You can no longer be passive when you grasp the truth about God's grace as exemplified in Christ. This is due to the fact that once you realise Christ lives in you, you will desire Him to live through you. Then your motivation differs from that of many believers who are subject to a mixture of legalism and grace. Your prayer is no longer about drawing nearer to God. When you truly comprehend the gospel, you will realise that God is with you right now. Furthermore, God has promised to be with you forever.

Rather, your prayer becomes a desire and willingness to work with God to accomplish what His grace will enable you to do and become all that you can be in Christ. Then your faith will deepen and mature, and you will be able to trust God more because He will keep His promise to you.

May you encounter and experience His amazing grace to leave behind the past and start right again—for His faithfulness and mercy are new every morning!
