Daily they met together in the temple courts and in one another’s homes to celebrate communion. They shared meals together with joyful hearts and tender humility. They were continually filled with praises to God, enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord kept adding to their number daily those who were coming to life.

Acts 2:46-57 (TPT)

Luke tells us that the early church made both community and connection fundamental features of their calling and mission. They gathered every day for worship and shared their resources with each other. The Lord honoured their faith and perseverance by increasing their numbers.

We have to learn how to connect and support one another if we want to feel a sense of belonging and love. This involves journeying together and experiencing the grace and goodness of God together.

Sometimes we feel like we don't belong or fit in. This feeling of alienation may be caused by our unrealistic expectations of the church or a false notion of Christian perfection. However, the truth is that we already have a collective sense of belonging with one another because of our identity and unity in Christ.

We cannot experience community and enjoy community unless we walk in the truth of who we are and what we have in Christ. You might believe there is something wrong with you if you find it difficult to make friends and meaningful connections. In fact, everyone experiences the same pressure and awkwardness that come with developing good relationships and deep friendships. Simply allow yourself to be open and vulnerable, and then follow God's guidance in making new friends or rekindling old ones.

All of us can contribute to building the community life of our church by encouraging and strengthening each other’s faith in Christ. We will see great things happening in each other's lives when you and everyone can clearly align with God's heart for our community.
