God uses ordinary people to change the world.

The Bible is replete with stories of God choosing the broken over the beautiful; foolish over the wise; the humble over the powerful; the poor over the rich; the unschooled over the learned and the weak over the strong. God always worked with and through ordinary people to fulfil His purpose. When you fully embrace this truth, all fears and reluctance, all running and hiding, and all self-pity and rejection lose their grips on you.

Do you realise that many of our greatest and most influential Christian men and women throughout history to present day came out from extremely challenging and humble backgrounds? Though they were hindered by abuses or disadvantages of all sorts, and though they were victimised many times over, they refused to remain victims but rose above the painful cynicism of a jaded life to become positive contributors in both church and society.

Consider these words from the Apostle Paul:

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29 New King James Version

How God chooses you is not determined by your experiences or expertise, or by your strengths or weaknesses. In making you a new creation in Christ, God took away all fleshy and sinful encumbrances so that there is no limit to what His Spirit can do through you.

When you rest on this truth, you will rise to new heights for God.

There is no limit in God’s capability and capacity to empower you for the calling He has placed in your life. Humble yourself and God will use you in powerful and profound ways. One stone fell a giant. Two loaves and five fishes fed thousands. One net caught so many fish that it was stretched to the breaking point. In a sense their stories are also our stories. Their lessons are also our lessons. And like them we will discover the joy of being chosen by God.
