Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:1-2 (NIV)

A healthy church community strives to reveal and reflect Christ in our relationships with one another. Some of us find it difficult to form deep and genuine friendships in the church because we are afraid of being vulnerable and how people may judge and reject us.

Faultfinders, unfortunately, can be found in any church community. They believe they have the right to pass judgement on others over trivial matters and like giving unsolicited advice without first taking the time or making the effort to understand other people's points of view.

The Apostle Paul instructs us to bear one another's burdens.

Carrying one another's burdens involves our unselfish willingness to accept and love people as they are, as well as giving them the time and space they require to grow into God's will. It is about being kind and carrying their burden alongside them. It is about walking beside them and showing that they are not alone. It is about standing with them during difficult times and celebrating with them when those dark days pass. It is about having hard conversations and giving gentle answers.

When we find fault with others or react negatively, we should question ourselves, "Do I have the same fault or is mine something else?" The truth is that none of us are without weaknesses. Instead of pointing fingers, we should learn to forgive one another and be patient with everyone. Simply said, we glorify Jesus the most when we draw others to Him in love and service.

Who is God asking you to love more like Jesus?
