As you go, proclaim this message; ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

Matthew 10:7-8 (NIV)

The Kingdom of God is both prophetic and practical.

We don’t just herald the good news of a world to come, we live as though it is already here. This paradoxical dimension makes us visionaries and change agents. As we bear witness to another reality that is not of this world, we side with the lost, the weak, and the forgotten and help them experience its fullness and restorative power.

Life in the kingdom isn't about having and keeping. It is about receiving and giving. The disciples did so many amazing things because they had the courage and confidence to use the power and authority given to them by God. In the midst of opposition and resistance, they have no fear of failure or regrets—for they were advancing a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Likewise, we will not settle for a Christianity that traps us within the four walls of a church building and loses sight of the kingdom.

We have been blessed by Christ to be a blessing to others.

God knows beforehand the needs we need. Much of what is required of us is received along the way. It is by obeying and following Jesus that we are empowered by His Spirit to do His work. Having been blessed, we now bless others with everything we have in Christ. Having been given so much, we give ourselves to the Lord for Him to accomplish His purpose through us.

God is on the move, and we can be part of what He is doing in the lives of those around us. Like the disciples of old, every one of us possesses the potential to do “greater” things than Jesus did. (cf. John 14:12) It is not faith we need, but the humility to obey God and act accordingly.
