Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her; ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.

Proverbs 31:28-29 (ESV)

Today we celebrate Mother’s Day.

We want to thank all mothers and mother figures for loving us and enriching our lives, and for their incredible contributions to the persons we become.

It is not easy to be a mother. We can find examples of biblical women who dealt with motherhood’s struggles. Eve lost one son at the hands of another. Rebekah favoured Jacob over Esau. Rachel died while giving birth. Jochebed gave up her son Moses for his safety and protection. Mary was a grieving mother who witnessed the death of her son, Jesus. Nevertheless, all these women were remembered for their crucial roles in God's plan to save His people. Their stories remind us that, even when mother-child relationships aren't perfect, God is working to make all things beautiful in His time.

Mothers, you are more than "just moms."

You are more important than you realize!

Being a mother is difficult, but it is also rewarding. The headaches and heartaches you've endured and fought will produce a future for your children and their children. With God's help, you are raising the next generation of God's seekers, Christ's followers, and Kingdom Leaders. Regardless of how difficult and demanding it can be, and regardless of how many times you are hurt by your child's actions or words, God will not forget your labour of love. Those who sow with tears will reap with joy! So, stay faithful and hold fast to the promises God has made to you about your children. God never breaks His promises. Not one of his promises will fail to bear fruit.

Mothers, we celebrate your sacrifice and selflessness, and we honour you for what you've done for us. Your children and loved ones appreciate you more than words or actions can explain. But more importantly, God sees you and appreciates you for being such a wonderful daughter.

On this special day, we pray for God to bless you and your family and may He increase His favour and blessings upon you. Amen!
