Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:5-6 (NKJV)

God wants us to be like-minded in the Lord so that we might love and live in harmony with one another. Being like-minded does not imply giving in to groupthink or peer pressure. Rather, it is about being united by shared values and purposes and pursuing them passionately together.

In the context of a church community, we should aim to be like-minded in our efforts to honour God and advance His Kingdom. Simply put, we cannot be spectators sitting in the pew, but rather a community of sons and daughters engaging in our Father's business.

There will never be a far-reaching transformation of our city until there is a personal reformation of our hearts to a greater conformity to Christ. When we are truly one mind with Christ, we will be able to demonstrate the truth of our oneness in Christ. We cannot do it on our own, but only by the Holy Spirit, who works in us to become more and more like Christ.

When there is discord and disunity in the church, it often indicates that we have forgotten who we are in Christ and what we carry inside us. We are to live out that truth in our friendship and relationships with one another because we all share the same oneness and diversity in the community of the Trinity.

If we want to become more like-minded, we must learn to sincerely celebrate and contribute to each other's spiritual growth and well-being. We are to consistently seek God's best for one another and constantly edify one another through love, kindness, and forgiveness. When we do these things well, we will transform our church into a healthy and life-changing community where people can belong and be a part of something bigger than themselves.
