All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 English Standard Version

We are good news people in a bad news world.

As believers, we are to function as ambassadors for Christ through which the message and ministry of reconciliation brings a fresh start for everyone with God. Our message is that God has victoriously reconciled the whole world to Himself by not counting everyone's sin and wrongdoings against them. This is because Christ's finished work on the Cross was and is so perfect and complete that God remembers no more our sins and others.

The word reconciliation means a positive change in our relationship and attitude towards God.

God never needed to change His attitude towards us. He has and will always love us. Our separation from Him was due to brokenness and hostility of sin, and that makes us enemies of God and rebels against Him. God however took the initiative by restoring that wounded relationship by way of breaking down the sinful wall that kept us apart from Him. As such, sin in itself no longer keeps anyone from God. Rather, it is pride or unbelief that hinders them from coming in faith to God so as to enjoy the blessings and benefits of Christ's reconciling work.

If we truly believe everyone is reconciled to God in Christ and thus already forgiven by God, then our ministry of reconciliation is to persuade those around us to experience that radical shift of mind or attitude that they not enemies of God, but rather sons and daughters of the Most High. We must endeavour, as much as possible, to show them God is love and demonstrate His love repeatedly without any conditions. Just trust the Holy Spirit to bring conviction and understanding so that they will know and feel the joy of salvation.

Consider it a privilege that you are representing and making known God's grace in and through Christ. Speak with authority and insight and act with love and compassion. Demonstrate the reality of Christ living in you through every conversation and relationship.
