When God initiates a new season in our lives, He is actually creating a new opportunity for us to embrace a fresh perspective of Him. When you stay too long at a particular point of your spiritual journey, you will find it easier and more comfortable to stay the same than to change. When you allow your comfort zone to turn into a cage, you will be staying stuck rather than soaring free.

New seasons, however, are stressful because we are moving forward to where we have never been before and we are not sure whether we are going to like what we find. This is why many resist change and pay the price of staying in the same ruts. This is because they would rather stay on the familiar and safe road of predictability than venturing into a new path of possibilities with God.

Consider Mary.

But when [Mary] saw [Gabriel], she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

Luke 1:29-30

Mary was obviously troubled by the incredibly startling news announced by the Angel Gabriel to her. However, the angel assured her not to be afraid but to recognise that she had found favour with God.

To have found favour with God is to realise "someone" much greater than us truly loves us. And He loves us unconditionally without reservation or strings attached. This is the essence of the Christian life. When you encounter God out of this revelation that He truly loves and accepts you, you will always feel safe and secure whenever God invites you to be part of something bigger than you are.

God's favour was with Mary right from the start. It was a gift of God that she didn't need to do anything to earn it. She simply had to receive it. Grace is for the humble and obedient. When we allow God's grace to enter into our lives, it becomes possible for us to live as God requires of us. When our relationship with God is born out of intimacy and divine favour, we hold nothing back, but rather give to God all that we are and have and desire.
