I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Romans 12:1 (ESV)

Worship is more than just a Sunday event. It is a daily practice in which we give ourselves completely to God for His purposes. Our service to God is an overflow of our worship of God. Service without worship causes burnout and exhaustion and can even hurt your relationship with God. We suffer when we prioritise our business or ministry over God.

We are to live a life that revolves around our oneness with God.

The Apostle Paul exhorts us to be living sacrifices, putting God first in everything. When we offer ourselves to God, we want to live according to His will rather than our own. This enables us to enjoy a more fulfilling marriage, family, career and even relationships with others. This is because God is at work in us to will and to do according to His good pleasure (cf. Philippians 2:13). When our attitude and actions are focused on God, we become like Him and reflect His glory in every way.

Learn to be a worshipper first before anything else.

Every day, we all have many roles to fulfil and relationships to manage, but we often feel pulled in different directions. If we maintain a worshipful attitude throughout our hectic schedule, we will be able to sense God's presence and love. This frees us from competing priorities and unreasonable expectations of ourselves and others. Then, rather than feeling burdened by workplace stress or family troubles, we will experience a lightness of heart that surpasses our understanding and our circumstances.
