[God] heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)

A healed heart matters to God.

Holding on to your emotional baggage can weigh you down and prevent you from fully experiencing God's rest. If you carry unforgiveness and mistrust within you, you will view life through a critical and judgemental lens. Fear and worry can lead to a complaining and negative mindset, while anger and resentment can result in an unhappy and sometimes raging version of you.

An unhealed heart prevents you from becoming all that God purposed you to be in Christ.

Disappointment and frustration are enemies of spiritual growth and maturity. They prevent you from freely walking in faith towards God's plan for your life. This is because when your heart is not fully resting on the reality of Christ's finished work, it cannot fully discern or rightly comprehend God's word and will—in any season of life. Instead, you will have conflicting—even contradictory—ideas about where God is leading you or what He wants you to do. Then it's easy to get caught up in deception and confusion.

Praise the Lord for a good God who sees and feels your pain. And the cross bears witness to the truth of God's love for you. Much of what God wants to do in your life has already been accomplished through Christ. All you need to do now is learn how to grasp everything that is yours by God's grace.

Jesus tells us that God will not give you anything that is diametrically opposed to what you need. As your Righteous Father, God will not give you a stone for bread or a snake for fish. God is the giver of good gifts, and all you have to do is ask!

Simply put, be amazed by the gospel again in order to be free of all emotional entanglements that prevent you from truly trusting in God's grace and love. Instead of being defeated by guilt and shame as a result of a broken heart, take personal responsibility for filling your heart and mind with God-breathed truths woven into the fabrics of the gospel.
