Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 (CSB)

Faith produces a deeper knowledge and trust of God.

Hebrews tells us that faith begins and builds on the truth that God exists, and He is rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. To have faith in God means risking all to do all that He says. The heroes of faith of Hebrews 11 were no better than us. They have the same fear and same excuses like us. But they learn faith through obedience to God in spite of circumstances or consequences. They endured and perhaps even died for their faith. Their steadfastness and perseverance were rewarded by God in the end. Just as they did, we are called to live a life filled with faith that pleases God.

To say we don’t have faith is to say we don’t have Christ. That is a spiritual impossibility. Bear in mind, faith is not a feeling, but a series of decisive steps to grow in the knowledge of the truth of who we are and what we have in Christ. The more we walk by faith, the less we fear—and that itself is a reward.

Faith flows from our rest in all Christ has done for us and is doing in us.

If your faith is weak or wavering, learn to rest in Christ and His grace will increase your faith to live boldly for Him. We are told in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing and hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. In other words, we will reap great rewards when we choose to believe, trust, and obey what the gospel says about us in Christ.

Faith is never a work we do, but a grateful response to God’s generous love and great kindness. As such, faith is a free gift because it is God who makes it possible for us to believe in Him. Thus, it is not hard to have faith when Jesus is your great and exceeding reward.
