[God] sent a man before them—Joseph—who was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him.

Psalm 105:17-19 (NKJV)

Life isn't always fair, and you may not always get what you desire.

The person you care about may not reciprocate your feelings. Someone else is given the promotion you believe you are due. Your day did not go as planned. While you may be unable to change your circumstances, you can change what is going on within you. What appears to be unfair now may be preparing you for future success.

The testimony of Joseph is one of a man who rose above the unfair twists and turns of his life because he trusted God even when his dreams seemed to fade away. According to the Psalmist, God "tested" Joseph "until the time his word came to pass." The term "tested" originally referred to the process of refining silver. God continued to refine Joseph's heart to prepare him for what was to come, which seemed almost impossible to achieve, humanly speaking.

Unfairness cannot keep God from fulfilling what He desires in your life.

If you think God is in it, you can have faith that He will work everything out for your good. This explains why Joseph never blamed his brothers for his situation because he recognised God's ultimate goodness for him and his family.

Learn to see past the unfairness and disappointment.

Even if life throws you a bad script, you are still blessed. This is because God is always good. His blessings are always based on His character rather than your circumstances. In the same way that God transformed and enlarged Joseph's heart despite the unfairness, God may transform and enlarge your heart to receive all that He has in store for you.
