A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (NLT)

Jesus is our best defence whenever we are attacked by the devil.

God has provided us with a perfect armoury to stand up to the devil's wiles by placing us in Christ. Because Satan is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44), his most effective tactics against the Christians are deception, untruth, and misdirection.

There is an old saying: "The devil loves to make a playground out of people's minds!" His lies will not only plague your mind with lies, but they will also affect your body (Luke 13:10-11). When we choose to believe a lie and allow it to take root in our hearts, it will grip us with a false view of God and His Word, convincing us of things that aren't actually in the Scripture or reflect God's true nature and character.

The most effective strategy to defeat Satan is to walk in the reality of your identity in Christ. Learn to walk in such intimacy with God so that the devil cannot deceive you again. The devil cannot fool or defeat you once you understand who you are and what you have in Christ.

Being in Christ and living a Spirit-filled life leads to intimacy with God. This explains why the Apostle Paul told the Ephesians to stay alert and pray earnestly in the Spirit at all times and on all occasions, not only for us but for all believers worldwide (Ephesians 6:18).

When you are constantly connected to the Father through prayer, you can readily discern and resist the opposing voice of the devil with the truth of the gospel. Make it difficult for the devil to deny who God has made you in Christ. Remember the gospel tells us that we are free because Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1). This means we already have the victory because we believe in the Lord and put our faith in His finished work.
