Jesus went back home, and once again such a large crowd gathered that there was no chance even to eat.  When Jesus' family heard what he was doing, they thought he was crazy and went to get him under control. Some teachers of the Law of Moses came from Jerusalem and said, “This man is under the power of Beelzebul, the ruler of demons! He is even forcing out demons with the help of Beelzebul.”

Mark 3:20-22, Contemporary English Version

Jesus' life was far from easy. He had to endure countless challenges and overcome obstacles, including the rejection of his family and community. Rejection is painful because it undermines your sense of worth and value as a person. While you cannot prevent rejection, you can stop it from stopping you from living the life God wants you to live.

Sometimes people will reject you but don't take it personally. They are rejecting you for their own reasons. It has to do with their personal issues, and mostly their perception of you. Do not try to persuade them to change their mind about you. If you do, you are giving power to people who do not believe in or care about you. When they reject you, they prioritise themselves over you, and as a result, they will never realise the impact of their behaviour on you, or worse, they don't care.

Learn from Jesus.

While Jesus loves and cares for people, He never does it to be popular or well-liked. This makes Jesus unafraid of other people's opinions and thoughts of Him. He kept His heart in the right place by focusing on doing the Father's will. Without a doubt, Jesus understood that God's call in His life would bring both acceptance and opposition. As a result, He rests on God's faithfulness rather than fickle human emotions to carry out His work. This enables Jesus to remain faithful in the face of rejection.

Instead of appeasing His critics, Jesus turned His attention to others, those who share His call of fulfilling the Father's will. He gave these individuals who follow God's will an identity and status far beyond their expectations.

For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.

Mark 3:34 (NKJV)

If you are experiencing rejection after rejection because of your faith in Christ, remember this: God in Christ recognises you as belonging to Him and a member of His family. Knowing that you are accepted in the Beloved should be reason enough to celebrate and rejoice.
