The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master. His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands. So he left all that he had in Joseph's charge, and because of him he had no concern about anything but the food he ate.

Genesis 39:2-4, 6 (ESV)

Is God in your work life?

Your faith should be the first thing people experience when they encounter you. When they meet you, do they know that you are a Christian without you telling them?

When you see work as a calling and a way to worship God, you will be amazed by the ways in which God can manifest His presence and power in and through you. The favour of God upon Joseph made him a blessing to many. In the same way, you can thrive in the workplace when you learn to honour God in everything you do.

Consistency builds credibility.

Joseph was able to remain consistent and disciplined in his work regardless of his circumstances. Potiphar noticed how Joseph excelled at everything he did, so he promoted him from a sold slave to a trusted servant. A promotion is not something we boast in, but something we give God the glory. After all, God is the one who gives us the ability and ambition to be the best we can be.

Set your personal and professional values on the principles of the Kingdom Do not be ashamed to identify yourself with the gospel. Make it a non-negotiable in how you do business and engage with people. Again, this isn’t about being obnoxious or sanctimonious about your faith. Rather, the gospel invites us to demonstrate a profound level of love and compassion for others.

While not everyone will accept or appreciate you because you are a Christian. They may even attack you and say grievous things about you. Like Joseph, just trust God to vindicate you and bring you out victoriously. Stay resilient and faithful to who God created you to be in Christ.
