Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12 (NKJV)

Your faithfulness to God should never be determined by how you were received or rejected by people. Even if you encounter obstacles or difficulties, don't give up and instead stay focused on God's call and purpose for your life. People can write you off, but when God's hand is on you will always exceed the limit set for you.

Consider Gladys Aylward.

Because of her low social status and lack of education, she was deemed unfit for missionary service in China during the early twentieth century. But God used Gladys in a profound way despite her alleged lack of abilities. The local people were initially sceptical of her intentions, but after witnessing her godly love and devotion to them, they grew to respect and trust her, and eventually, they became faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul encouraged his spiritual son, Timothy, to continue growing spiritually regardless of how others perceived him. Instead of succumbing to those opposing voices, Timothy was to set himself up as a perfect example of someone who embodied Christ's character in every way.

We can see Paul's wisdom here: we become what we feed on.

Our spiritual growth contributes to our spiritual maturity when we feed on Christ. Spiritual maturity leads to spiritual authority, and spiritual authority establishes a foundation for greater influence in our relationships. Keep walking in the reality of your identity in Christ whenever you (or others) are tempted to despise your call and purpose. Stay on course and never deviate from your God-directed path to faithfulness and fruitfulness.
