13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13 New International Version

We are ordinary people with an incredibly extraordinary God.

Most of the stories in the Bible are about ordinary people who are willing to embrace God’s calling for their lives. They dared to step out and do mighty exploits — not because they were great or special but because they choose to believe God and trust Him for the grace to do what He wants them to do.

You may think God cannot use you but the truth is He can. Your purpose was written before you were born, long before the creation of the world. Your story cannot stop God’s purpose for your life, no matter where you are or where you have been in your journey.

The Jewish religious leaders refused to accept Peter and John’s testimony about Jesus, but they could not refute it either. They were really caught by surprise with Peter and John’s bold confidence and faith, particularly because Peter and John were uneducated and ordinary men. Even in their disbelief, the Jewish religious leaders could not deny the power of God working in and through these two men. The only conclusion they could arrive at was that “these men had been with Jesus”.

Can people tell that you have been with Jesus?

The Apostle Paul says we are epistles from Christ to the world (2 Corinthians 3:2-3). People may not read the Bible but they can read us. We could well be the only source for them to encounter God and experience His love and grace.

God is willing to work with you if you are willing for Him to work in you.

Start today and walk in the light of the gospel and as you do, you will begin to see opportunities to shine for Christ everywhere you go.
