17 Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
Healing is a necessity.
There are some who do not believe in healing or in a God that heals today, and will not even attempt to ask God for healing. They will even go to the extent of stopping others from receiving their healing. In the bible, these religious legalists found fault with Jesus for healing the paralysed man. They were so distracted and upset by Jesus’ mode of healing, and more so were not drawn to Him for their own healing. Luke tells us that the same power of the Lord was present to heal them but none of them would receive it.
Healthy and healing belongs to us, paid righteously by Jesus on the cross.
Health and healing for your bodies are freely given to us through Christ’s redemptive work and suffering on the cross. However we need to realise that there are wrong beliefs that keep people from receiving their healing. Some feel they are undeserving of healing and dare not ask for it. Some let their theology get in the way of their healing because they believe sickness is God’s way of teaching them a lesson. Some accept their sickness as their lot in life or fate, and never seek wholeness and healing for their diseases.
The devil seeks to steal, kill and destroy and He would love to keep us sick and defeated. This is why we need to stand firm on what Christ has already accomplished for us on the cross. When healing doesn’t take place, it can be demoralizing and hard to accept. But don’t let discouragement and fear stop us from believing the one true God who cannot lie. While we weep and mourn for what has been lost, we lean on God’s sustaining power to see us through each day until we receive our breakthrough.
Don’t judge the sick and afflicted. Be bold and pray for them. That is what James 5:13-15 commands us. Rest on the revelation of the gospel and believe God to manifest His power and goodness every time.
