See what great love the Father has for us that He would call us His children. And that is what we are. For this reason the people of the world do not know who we are because they did not know Him.
1 John 3:1 New Living Translation
God always acts in love and out from a heart of love towards us.
By creating you in His image, God made you with such perfect love that sin cannot diminish your incredible worth and value before Him. God does not love you because of who He wants you to be or what you can do for Him. God loves you because of who He is.
God is love.
If that is true, then all our knowledge and experiences of Him should bring us to a place where we are in awe and wonder of Him. Worship, then, is no longer tied to a day or a location or time, and probably less so than a half-hearted offering. And as God is everywhere, we get to cultivate such a conscious awareness of His presence with us that it makes our worship amazingly personal and powerful.
Worship makes the reality of loving and being loved by God even more real to us. It not only grows our closeness and community with God, but it also empowers us to pursue His will, on earth as it is in heaven.
Though the world may not know God, or even believe that He exists, we know who God is and how much He loves us. God’s love fuels our obedience and frees our hands and feet for service in His kingdom so that the world may believe (John 17:21).
Nothing can hinder you from accepting and receiving God’s love. The connecting point is Jesus. By becoming one with us in our humanity, He brings us into the holy community of the Trinity, where the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are working together as one in transforming us to become everything God desired and designed us to be in Christ.
As we continue to grow in our relationship with the Trinity, we will reflect and echo the overflowing Triune love in all of our relationships, whether friends or foes. We get to love others because God loved us first. Then the world will know us by our love for one another because it knows we belong to God and we are from God.
